Ankarana, limestone needles and caves

A limestone massif pierced by underground rivers and crowned by grey tsingy. Ankarana is also a sacred site for the Antakarana people, dotted with ritual caves.

The park spans 18,000 hectares including a spectacular canyon, the 'loss of rivers', where waterways vanish underground and re-emerge further on.
